Pros
Walgreens was a great place to work...about 2 years ago. I started Walgreens while in school and worked as a photo tech part time. I stopped going to school and was offered the SIMS coordinator full time position, to which I accepted and began learning more about the store and the company. I felt very confident in my growing knowledge there and began to see a future with the company. My managers were helpful and most I enjoyed being around. I decided I wanted to look into the management program last year, and that's where it all went downhill...
Cons
I was given an interview with another store manager that you have to get through to interview with the district manager. The interview went very well, and she told my store manager that she would definitely be passing me on to the district manager. The problem is that literally a week or two after the interview, they announced the new Store Team Lead position. All SIMS coordinators would be shifted to the STL position, which is essential management duty, but for at least $6 less an hour than MGTs. I do the same exact work as an MGT(clearly more than the lazy MGT at my store), but I get paid far less. This has been the biggest slap in the face I could expect. I used to see a future with Walgreens, but they continue to make cuts and I don't see them ever promoting any STL's to MGT anytime soon; why would they?
