Pros
Excellent working culture, management are receptive to the needs of the partners (you are not classed as an employee but as a partner, because you receive a bonus- often above 10% although not in the last few years- and hence will receive that years’ figure as a % of your yearly salary), which was good for me as I got around £1500 extra than my friends purely for the fact I worked at Waitrose whilst they worked at other supermarkets but did effectively the same job.
Cons
If working on tills (which thank goodness I wasn’t required to do after my initial training) there was a massive emphasis on ensuring the customer was pandered too beyond measure and you HAD to ask them if you should pack their bags- it would have been better to enable the partner to speak to the customers in a more natural manner, and make observations, rather than asking them if they want their bags packed if they were perfectly happy to pack, as it would save time and allow more people to be served.
