Pros

Hires you without experience, pay is good. They got me on a $17 hourly pay.

Cons

They are well aware of your lack of experience since they ask you in the interview. However, once you begin training, they fail on their end. They do not have adequate training to set you up to do your job well. You will be thrown around between 5 different lab techs to learn "standard methods" which is not the case at all. Every single person has their shortcuts and will teach you THEIR way. Which you can already image will get frustrating when you are getting assessed. The supervisor goes by word of mouth, they do not value your feedback or opinion. The lead tech ultimately decides if you stay or not, yet she does not always train you so then she goes by word of mouth. There are alot of procedures that unless you worked in industry, you need clear and concise training and again, THEY DO NOT PROVIDE WITH THAT. This creates a very stressful environment which makes the industry very unattractive. I gladly left before I spent more of my time there. This job is not worth it, do not jump on this job offer even if it seems like a perfect job. My advice to you is, ask to get a tour of the lab facility so that you can see how miserable everyone looks. Don't just take my word for it, see for yourself.

WECK Laboratories Response

We are sorry you had a negative experience during your time at Weck Labs and we are also sorry that you had not indicated a problem during your employment. As we tell all of our employees at the moment they are hired and during our ethics and QC training sessions, upper management is always willing to discuss any concerns or problems and always try to address those issues. Besides personal training, another set of instructions provided to new employees is in the form of written Standard Operating Procedures or SOPs that are readily available to all personnel and describe to a high level of detail how to perform all operations at the laboratory; supervisors and senior chemists also offer advice and training when needed or requested. Even though the work load could be hectic at times during storm events, that is not the case during normal times and employees have the time to perform their duties in a reasonable manner. Most employees have been with the company for many years, usually starting in different positions, and were able to advance their careers within the company into supervisory and management positions. Based on the attitudes observed throughout the lab, people don’t look miserable at all; this attitude even extends to company BBQs, gatherings and sports events.
