Pros
Seems pretty good so far
Cons
None that i can see at the moment
Pros
- Perfectly highlighted what type of company / employer I do not want to work for.
Cons
Incredibly odd place to work. I have worked in large London companies which have cultures of bullying, sexism and gender pay gaps and nothing compares to WCF Chandlers. There is one specific female employee who has been at the company for nearing 15+ years and essentially is apart of the furniture and can get away with treating any newcomer as they please. It has happened to multiple newcomers and they will not be confronted on this behaviour as they are essentially untouchable. It is common practice to bring anyone on probation or contractual forms of employment to meetings with zero warning and confront them with these ‘issues’ which you can never actually respond to as they have already made up their mind to terminate your employment before you actually arrive to the meeting. One female employee who was a contractual member of staff was fired in the middle of the day and we were not informed by senior managers that she had left, we simply found out by employees gossiping that she had been fired and comments such as ‘well she was never truly one of us’ were thrown around. Extremely unprofessional behaviour and odd management of a sensitive situation. Anyone who will be joining this team should be aware you are working within a company with multiple family members among the team. This therefore means that anything said / done on the office floor is fed back to the manager ( who is a blood relative of low level employees ) and in the same token, anything said to your manager can and will be relayed back to those same family members, even outside of work in their personal private time. In my first week with the company I informed my manager of a private health issue and her relative ( another colleague ) told me in passing they knew about my health issue even though I told my senior manager in confidence and explicitly stated I did not want anyone else in the team to know. This is clearly common practice for this company as someone else references this same issue in a review for WCF Chandlers on Indeed. I genuinely would urge anyone to heavily consider working here, it isn’t long until you see the cracks and how small and narrow minded your new colleagues are. Racist views regarding the NHS wait times and how this relates to immigrants were passed around the office freely. Even a senior member of the team stating they engaged in fox hunting. Good luck to anyone taking on a contract of employment here!
Pros
- Cracking bunch of drivers and fitters. - Wages were always on time and always correct
Cons
- Waited ages for uniform. - Wasn't given a company phone, but still expected to use my personal phone to call customers. - Quite possibly the worst planning I have ever seen. Deliver to one end of the county and the second job is the complete opposite end, third job would take you back to square one. A lot of dead millage... - Office staff would make unrealistic promises to customers regarding delivery times and days, you would then go there a few days later to be moaned at by the customer that the delivery was late and had been promised etc... (this happened multiple times a day) - After having the worst winter in years and been out in all weathers to get the job done, (doing 15 hour days and exhausting the maximum weekly hours you can work as a HGV driver) working towards 'a fantastic bonus' this was later knocked on the head and replaced by an awfully cheap thermos flask... I'm sure you can imagine what that did for morale. Myself along with a few other drivers promptly left very shortly after this....
