Pros

Decent starting point for anyone thinking of making a career in a call center type environment. VHI dental+health package was introduced this year (2018) which is good. The free one is great, you can go higher by paying a bit extra yourself. Two half paid sick days are being trialled at the moment to see how it goes although given how high absence is within the company I cannot see it going further than that without a high cost to the company which is fair enough. Funny the amount of people still complaining about there being neither of the above two when it has been added and spam advertised in the company. With Telus holding the majority share and given their history of putting into companies they take over, there is some light at the end of the tunnel for future opportunities within the Telus network. If a contract ends for any reason they make a huge effort to give the people on that contract other chances within other contracts and don't just let them all go. They do offer some good courses for new managers now which can be helpful but in essence don't really gear people new to the positions for the onslaught that can face them in some circumstances. For attracting clients they do a great thing by making videos such as the supercell one, I won't go into details on it but it was a great use of the 'culture' they try to exude. The company is definitely up there when it comes to trying to help and find ways to do everything they can to help agents in bad situations. The EAP and support given to agents is extremely good.

Cons

Before I begin, I will try to keep these as constructive as I can so I do not come across as petty or hateful. I am trying to give my honest view but it is hard to not comes across otherwise at times. I do hope that it is viewed in that respect. Voxpro Communications - nobody calls it by the full name because the communication is terrible within the company. It seems to be split in two, the side who are business and think of the money aspect and the side who want it to be like those silly videos where everything is great and funtastic. You will have the fun squad arrange things and then try to push people into taking part even if they can't or have no interest. If there's not enough participation they will come into the contracts and expect managers to send agents out to these events during work hours regardless of the contracts doing that would result in under delivering of targets for the client which means they cannot charge them for those hours. The fun squad pay zero mind to that and in essence come across in many ways as just trying to tick the boxes that they have done said number of fun things within a given period. Don't get me wrong, it's good to try engage your workers but they need to interact better with the contracts who are all trying to work within very tight goals/targets and cannot just upheave everything so agents can be made sit in front of some guy playing a guitar or talking which they didn't even ask to go to in the first place. They just don't seem to get that not everyone wants to be 'involved' and that their is also a job going on. These pulse type surveys come out and there is a big push to make everything 'fun & happy' to try boost the numbers but it drops. New hires are the best boost for these as they are still all wide eyed and bushy tailed but these days if you get someone to stay 1-2 years before they leave you are lucky. I fully understand how the business works and that they are trying to attract more investors/clients and ever decsion is primarily money based. However, some common sense and cop on would be great. Ophelia for example, on the probably worst day when most companies had closed their doors to prevent staff from traveling to work on a serverly dangerous day. Voxpro remained opened and under the guise of 'if you feel at risk coming to work, then please remain at home' or something to that effect. Even to me it seemed to be worded in a way that kind of went 'you should still come into work regardless of the tree's being ripped out of the ground and roofs of house being blown off'. I drove into work that morning (because I was stupid) and 5 minutes later everyone was told to go home. I was so angry going home, not for me but for all the people who had put themsevles at risk just so Voxpro could stay open for their clients instead of going, we care about our staff and will take the money hit. Do not come in under any circumstances. Also, whomever runs their social media accounts shouldn't be allowed a bebo account. The horrific communications come across like a bunch of farmers yappin 'wait now lads.. we're not sure.. ah shur go on come in for a bit a craic'. Pay at manager level is patheic. After 2 years you will be on around 31/32k and then thats it unless you manage to get group manager or magic yourself into a higher position as you'll see in the next section. I hear agents complaining about pay, they have no idea what you have to go through as a 'good' manager every day for a small bit more. Trying to get your monthly bonus = more chance of being hit by a unicorn because you have almost no control over it. Cost of living continually rises, my pay will not. Office Politics - as with any company there is plently of it here. If you know or are sitting with the right people it can get you very far in the company. A lot of higher level jobs do not get advertised and suddenly someone who seemingly had zero expierence is put in the position and nothing is said. Heaven forbid you actually call it out because in no uncertain terms that's you done. With co workers, such as agents there are a lot of decent people who come in and work hard and go home. People who can adapt in situations and understand the nature of the business and just get on with it.Unforutnetly these are in minority. A lot of people who could be like that get swarmed on by the people working there for some time who instead of trying to better themsevles and move on to possible new positions or jobs elsewhere will sit and infect them with their toxic attitudes. It's disheartning to watch. You can talk to them and try explain things as much as possible but these people will refuse to move on because they know that they would never get away with it at larger companies who pay more etc. There are a lot of legitimate complaints about the company but also a lot of people who will complain regardless of what is given to them. Reading the reviews on here it's generally easy to see which type of agent etc left the review. I am sure there are grounds for plenty of the complaints but in plenty others there's a lot of 'additional' information left out. t People have some serious conspiracy theories on what goes on with regard to HR or other agents when 99% of it is all rumour based. The false rumours that get spread are unbelievable. Thankfully I've not been victim to this but some colleagues have and it can be career damaging level false accusations. One of the biggest issues is that at most levels there are people who come in and do nothing at all and everyone else has to make up for it. A lot of these people seem to just coast through and little is done to rectify it. For agents you may be lucky to get a team of decent agents who have been correctly managed, or you may inherit a team of agents who have been let run riot and them have a heart attack when you point out basic work manners to them. It's easier to just shift the bad managers around and let hard working ones come in and clean up the mess. My first day as a manger I was told by one who was leaving if you want to get by without problems just be best friends with your team and do speak up to have it easy. I've worked in a few positions and 2 contracts here and this is quite true across the board. You come in and work hard and try to better yourself and get no where while someone else strolls in and just chuckles away and comes out with the same. The company growth is not mirrored in the support network. HR seemed to be stretched to the limit. The above and beyond award has become a routine where people are just given it in some cases because 'it's your turn'. If no one on your team has gone above and beyond you are almost scolded. I am sorry but I'm not giving it to people for no reason, it really defeats the purpose of it and just tells me that you really don't care about it and it's another case of lip service. Personally I feel horrible coming into the office everyday and feel as though I am wasting my time and energy here. They want to ignore the real issues and mask it with fun or pointless events to take peoples minds off the real issues. The big drive is always to engage the agents and lets have fun with them. But I get nothing of the sort. My engagement is not a priority, my happiness or mental well-being is not a concern outside of lip service. I am a manager and therefore I should be able to to power through the endless amount of work that is directed at me and the endless amount of HR meetings with difficult people who are hell bent on making your life as hard as possible because they are expected to actually work when they are in the office. So much time is spent on these type of people when it could be better spent with people who could be developed more. My own mental health has nosed dived in the last year and my own work performance has suffered because of it. I think that I will end up being one of those people who comes in & acts busy by doing nothing if I continue here. I have more pride in my own abilities than that.

Pros

Amazing people at the ground level.

Cons

Toxic work environment. Started out incredible and I truly believed I would retire from here. They ended up hiring individuals who should never have been placed as leaders, they are not leaders.
