This was the worst place I ever worked and I don't recommend anyone going to work there. - Specialist Vitamix Employee Review

Pros

Totally free healthcare, but that's changing; the product truly is the best, and employees get one free, plus discounts. That's all I can think of.

Cons

To hear some people's description of this company during the hiring process, you would think you just entered utopia. Wrong! They act like everyone gets along, like family is some kind of priority, or if everyone there is supposedly like one big family - nothing could be further from the truth. There's this big act going on, but behind the scenes people just shake their heads, sigh, wink/nod, and secretly agree that the place is a complete hot mess! Just remember that privately held companies do not need to meet certain compliance like public companies, and some things are hard to believe they passed in an audit. The work ethic in that place is so twisted. Some managers spend hours each week addressing hourly timecards and bickering about 10 minutes here or there (from dedicated hard workers). Some managers have a degree from the 80's (you know, before computers?) and don't know squat about current business practices, yet they are somehow still managers. There is a ton of micromanaging going on, and people on power trips, worrying more about finding fault and drama than whether the work is getting done. They will talk about the casual dress code and atmosphere, but then certain people are told to dress in business attire (because they are more important than the other little people). They will negotiate a ridiculously low base salary and tell you how they always pay out huge bonuses - wrong again. Bonuses were less than a third last year with tons of excuses. There are so many things this company could do to help morale which would cost them nothing, but they aren't willing to do it (like letting people leave at 3 before a holiday weekend? or at 4 after a dept outing on a Friday - nope, they said come back and work or use vac time). The free vegan lunch on Wed's they rave about mostly ends up in the trash. It costs the company a lot but is a total waste. A lot of people don't like it, and even when it's tasty it isn't filling and people bring extra food to go with it. The seating arrangements are a total joke. People in hallways, some without even a desk or phone. Rows of people with no privacy. No office numbers or logical way of finding your way around. The floors sound hollow underneath and cell phones don't work. The front of the building is all new and updated, but the rest is like a dungeon. The only windows are on the ceiling or in conference rooms and a person could go postal being in there all week. The new construction is mostly dead airspace and empty offices/cubes while people in the old part are piled on top of each other. It's all for show - how it looks on the outside. Believe me, being on the inside is horrible.
