Pros

Working with the kids Amazing co-workers Supportive Directors & upper management More incentives & patient actives being added Many, many changes have been implemented & have made drastic positive changes for patients & staff Current Management is MUCH more supportive Having worked under many of the predecessors in management/CEO, I far prefer the current environment, not just for staff, but patients as well. Change is a GOOD thing!!!! You can’t see mental illness, but you CAN see a person struggling with one!!!

Cons

It’s psych... there’s never a predictable day. It’s emotional & can be chaotic at times It’s definitely not for the weak, or faint of heart It’s mentally tough & it’s just not for everyone. Teenagers- they are hormonal, sometimes disrespectful & always unpredictable. But they are, after all ,still just CHILDREN who need help. You can’t always see a mental illness

Pros

Village itself has a team of people who really care and work extremely hard for our kids. CEO is extremely involved and willing to step in anywhere. During a snowstorm last year, he worked in the kitchen because our kitchen staff could not make it in, preparing and serving close to 100 kids all of their meals for the day. It is a true team effort to keep the place at a high standard of care and despite a lot of limitations from corporate.

Cons

Primary issues are with corporate - Acadia Healthcare

Pros

* Being able to help the kids. * Great job for those going into the mental health field (SW, Psychology, etc)

Cons

* Management: focused on census, not quality of care. * Pay and benefits were average for this area, but low for the demand of this job. * Schedules are awful: You work a rotation of 1-7 (am or pm, depending) on Tueday, then 7-7 (am or pm) W and T, (off F, Sat, Sun) then 7-7 M, then a half shift T (7-1). Back on Sat and Sun 7-7, off M, then start all over on T w/ the 1-7. * Very high turnover because of lack of staffing (which is a result of multiple systemic problems). * Lack of consistency across shifts, making it much harder to do your job in the first place.
