Pros

Very good pay and benefits. Verizon delivers a comprehensive leadership training program for new and existing leaders at all levels. Internal education is very diverse and well done. Time off policies and work-life balance issues are easily worked out ans supported, as well as internal employee assistance with a variety of personal experiences, i.e. adoption, military service, tuition assistance.

Cons

Company values espouse value of customers and employees, however, employees are treated like disposable assets. Constant reorganizations ( 3 this year!) shows a lack of planning and leadership at all levels, Director and above. Since all "new" leaders at Verizon are required to attend the Leadership University, existing leaders should also be required to attend refresher courses. That might give them a fresh perspective on appropriate behavior and appreciation for their resources. Employees are not made to feel valuable nor "safe" fro more than 6 months at a time. This is very poor management and detrimental to performance.

Pros

Compensation is competitive but you will work very hard for it. Culture is excellent and exhibited and practiced from the top down. Benefits are excellent and cost reasonable. 401k match and profit sharing. Lots of training and professional development opportunities. Can advance if you're willing to relocate.

Cons

Company is trying to transform into what it wants to be beyond a wireless carrier (cloud?, security?, telematics?, wholesaler?, etc) and is struggling with a vision, resources, and org structure to make it a reality. Several re-organizations over last few years so job security has frequently been a question. Often delayed response to competitors caused by management's concern that acting would result in not meeting Wall Street expectations. Not the "happiest" place to work because no result is ever good enough and successes aren't celebrated because the focus is always on the next weekly/monthly/quarterly goal.
