Pros
TBT, I'm the current CFO for Venus. So understand that what I'm about to say comes from a place of multiple levels of review for this company:
I was hired in February of 2019 as Venus' business development officer, and as such--got to see the ins and outs of Venus' business largely from the standpoint of someone outside the normal chain of command. This gave me access to insights, employee opinions, and knowledge of the company that I needed to do my job, that I simply would not have acquired easily else-wise. What I learned from that experience is that Venus is largely a company with a tremendous amount of grit, ingenuity, and flexibility. Having been around for over 50 years, it's seen the rise and fall of many competitors, and has managed to never be at risk of closing it's doors. This is in large part due to the passion of the owners, the Gourley Family, and the tenacity of Venus' employees.
Six months ago, we decided to hire a CFO--John had need of support in this capacity, and with my background in finance and business, it was a natural fit for me to step into that role. This move was one that benefited both Venus and I greatly. Together, John and I have worked towards transitioning Venus into it's next phase of leadership--which has ultimately lead to discoveries on how to substantially increase our profit margins, reward our employees even more, and has given us hope to move into owning more than our current estimated 10% of the market share. As we move forward with our goals, we're eager to grow our employee base, and see each of our members thrive!
Outside of the hundreds of hotels we've worked with, hundreds of schools, several thousand commercial projects, thousands of businesses, and tens of thousands of residential homes--it's my opinion that what Venus has offered most of our employees, as well as our community, is the building up of people and places--in addition to a whole lot of care. Just take it from me, a simple small business CFO with a disability.
p.s. We're friendly to all types--those that are rebuilding their lives, those that are rebuilding themselves, those with special needs, and those that have it all together.
Feel free to apply if you're disabled, a veteran, need stable full-time work at a living wage, are rebuilding your identity, or just have mouths to feed. If we have work for you, you'll always have a fair shot at getting the chance to do it!
Cons
We're currently understaffed, and looking to bring on new employees. Aside from that, our focus this year is addressing some of the more common elements of need within small family businesses--so there's work to be done.
