Pros

They take medicaid, making care more accessible

Cons

My experience with Valera has been nothing short of a nightmare. This company demonstrates a complete disregard for the well-being of its clinicians, focusing obsessively on numbers at the expense of staff support. Over the past two years, they have made a series of disgusting decisions, including switching health insurance for clinicians twice with less than a month’s notice each time, and removing bonuses without informing employees. Additionally, they recently took away 5 vacation days from their already overworked staff, further undermining work-life balance. Their decision to switch to NextGen for EHR note-taking—a system straight out of the 90s—has only added to the frustration with its outdated and nearly unusable interface. The company’s lack of sensitivity is also alarming. Last Juneteenth, they sent out a tone-deaf email announcing that they would remain open for black clients, completely overlooking the significance of the holiday. This year, they sent an equally insensitive email instructing staff on how to use PTO for unrecognized holidays, showing a staggering lack of understanding and respect for cultural observances. It’s clear that Valera values metrics and cost-cutting far more than the well-being and dignity of its employees. I strongly advise anyone considering employment here to think very carefully before joining this deeply flawed organization. There is a reason they are hiring urgently with a 3k signing bonus....

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We appreciate your recognition of our commitment to making care accessible by accepting Medicaid. We are deeply sorry to hear about the negative experiences you’ve described. Changes to health insurance and other policies are made to align with market trends and employee needs, but we understand that such transitions can feel disruptive. Based on employee feedback, we have recently implemented two floating holidays to provide more flexibility for observing culturally significant or personal holidays. Regarding concerns about work-life balance, PTO policies, and EHR systems, we are actively reviewing processes to ensure we provide the support and tools needed to reduce frustration and promote a healthier work environment. Additionally, we are committed to continuous improvement in cultural sensitivity and communication to better align with the values of our team. We take your input seriously and are committed to fostering a more supportive and respectful environment for all employees. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts, as they help us identify areas where we can grow.
