Pros

Private use of van, tools provided, good initial training.

Cons

Have worked for this company for many years. They are promoting a high performance culture within the company but within the service side the only culture is one of bullying, threats, arrogance and ignorance, especially from the senior management, who clearly do not care about any employees. Senior management is made up of an OLD BOYS network than are more concerned of covering their own backs at the expense of employees. Many engineers are forced to work in an unsafe manner due to time restrictions placed on every job. Travel times are manipulated to increase workload that you end up not getting paid for. When this is raised with management, it just gets dismissed. Even if problems are raised with HR they just pass it back to the managers that dismissed it in the first place, with no follow up to see if the issue has been resolved. Add to this that your manager is now even more annoyed that you’ve taken things above him. Very long working hours with no recognition for work involved that does not include repairing a boiler. Recently online training has been introduced that we are expected to complete in our own time, that is followed up with by e-mails from line managers when not completed. Absolutely no support from managers, and senior technicians workload is too much to provide support for engineers either. One way to sum it up is treated like slaves and flogged to death to work harder with a we don’t care attitude just go and fix another boiler. Senior management full of false promises

Pros

- They really care about their employees, they managed my housing and made sure I have enough fun things to do off the clock - Lots of learning opportunities!! I interned for them in 2013, and I'm most certain that i did not learn any less than my friends who work for the bigger name companies

Cons

- If you are a fresh grad and not sure if you will commit your next decade or so in this company, Vaillant probably won't be the diamond on your resume, especially if you are looking for opportunities outside of Europe.
