Pros
Leadership seems to be focused on the right things. The way the hospital (Vail Health + Colorado Mountain Medical + Eagle Valley Behavioral Health) has handled COVID-19 has made me (and many of my coworkers) proud to work here. We were doing things in our little community before major metros, which I think helped keep our community safe. COVID also has brought many teams and departments together to make for a stronger work environment. The money we are putting into mental health has already started to make an impact. Lots more to do but everything I'm seeing from leadership indicates that VH is all in on behavioral health which is an important issue in this community. Being an independent hospital means we don't have the red tape to navigate like the larger systems do. Which, at least for me, has meant I can move projects forward that I feel are important without a lot of headaches.
Cons
Cost of living is high here. That's more location specific than VH specific.
