WPP Agency - good people but one big problem - Project Manager VMLY&R COMMERCE Employee Review

Pros

Geometry has a lot of great people who have been working hard for the greater good of the powers above at WPP. You would struggle to find a London agency with a nicer group of people who are really willing to work hard and team together when things get tough. Offices have been refurbished and make a nice working space. Usual WPP benefits are fairly good. Still has ad land touches such as drinks trolley and fun initiatives here and there.

Cons

There is a toxic culture which has been spread across the company like the Black Death, killing ambition, pushing good people out and instilling fear into those who remain. The problem is glaringly obvious but management do little to stop this as far we could see from the shop floor. This problem would be resolved with a change of management at the top level and nurturing those who have been challenged/demented by this particular person.

Pros

Loved the great people I worked with at VMLY&R Commerce. Some of the brightest in the industry. I was given so much opportunity to lead. I had great clients and will always be grateful for my 2 years here.

Cons

I worked here during the pandemic so I didn’t get a lot of opportunity to get any kind of training or continued learning opportunities.

Pros

WPP (parent co.) does a good job at sharing information and policies. Good benefits and percentage paid is fair. Nice office and location. Good I.T. team.

Cons

Client team leads left saying they are tired of putting out fires in their group. Others said you have to whew everything first before you feed it to their peers. One or two creatives do most of the work. The smart and dedicated client SVP's were either pushed out or VML Commerce lost the client due to C Suite interfering in what they knew nothing about.
