Pros
No one would notice if you didn't do any work
Cons
Rampant micromanagement, no ergonomic support, don't take employees concerns seriously. Management are completely clueless on all fronts and also do not tell you when things are changing. You won't get trained properly because they made typists be trainers, so in between doing their own work they will try and teach you, and every typist has a different method so one person could tell you one thing and then you get another trainer and they tell you what you're doing is wrong. There is so much vicarious trauma and there is no support at all for it - get paid minimum wage to listen to and watch horrendous audio and video. If you want to get a higher up role ie. manager, team leader, there is no incentive, you are still paid minimum wage. There are known abusers and bullies that work in management here and they are protected whilst typists and other employees have to leave the workforce because they have no choice. Employees feel like they could be made redundant any day, some of the older ones that have been there 10+ years are considering leaving. Think they also hated the union presence in the office as they always were putting pressure on union members and hiring union busters.
