Pros

Cons
Crappy hours without designated end time. One day would be 5. The next 6. The next 5:30. The next 6:30. Sometimes making for an 11 hour day when I was specifically told 8 hour shifts at hiring. Absolutely no pension or benefits to speak of. Workers are discouraged from discussing wages because VG does not apply them equally. The word egonomic does not exist at VG meats. Staff does all lifting by hand, up to and over 100lbs, often starting at the floor and reaching as high as over your head. No lift carts and very limited machinery to assist the staff at all. Left with multiple back injuries. Owners are passive aggressive and will leave threating notes all over the building. Ex. Instead of hiring a janitor for the bathrooms they decided that typed out notes threating bathroom privileges was the right idea. The single staff microwave dissapeared one morning without any notice, leaving anyone with a frozen lunch completely stranded. The reasoning, VG doesnt have a designated cleaner and relies on its staff for off-the-books cleaning. The owners thought the microwave was too dirty and BAM no more hot lunches. This was one of the hardest, most demanding jobs I have ever worked, all for a measly 14$. I actually absorbed the responsibilities of someone who was making 16$ and remained at 14$ even after asking about a raise.
