Pros
This is small/boutique shop with around two hundred consultants and relatively flat in terms of management layers. The people here are some of the best in the industry and extremely supportive of one another. Utilicast has a model of vouching-in new folks, and it shows in the professionalism and caliber of their consultants.
Overhead here is minimal, they offer both W2 and 1099 models, and the consultants take home the majority of their billed rate. Requirements for travel have dropped significantly now that most client shops are remote/hybrid.
Cons
The low-overhead model doesn't provide much in the way of tooling, slideware, etc. but I feel that this is an acceptable trade-off given the generous pay structure (note: the salary reviews posted here are inaccurate).
There is always a risk of being benched between contracts, but in my experience demand has been steady. Most Utility clients face operating expense constraints that incent the use of contractors for extended periods of time.
