Pros
Benefits, Work From Home and Hybrid
Cons
I was told this was a start-up, but I have worked at start-ups, and they don't have 100+ employees. It's a disorganized disaster trying to do too much without the foundation to support it. I was the first in a new job position and not a single person could tell me what I was supposed to be doing. My expectations were never clear, equipment requests were ignored, and the management was neglectful. The week-long PowerPoint onboarding process was a red flag. New hires are lectured about the company's ~culture~ led by the "visionary" Steve Stoute. The CFO gave a presentation on how they have so much money, yet they laid off dozens of people that year. A good chunk of the lay-offs were minority groups. They offer a monthly phone stipend because they literally track your location to make sure you're following their hybrid policy. They do a background check to make sure you're not a felon. I asked them why, what they would do if I was (I'm not), and if I could forego it. I didn't get a clear answer for a week. The response was "Everyone gets a background check. If you've served time we will ask you about it and make a determination." This was surprising to me because Stoute name-drops his friendship with every hip-hop OG, many of whom made music about serving time. The incident that led to my departure was being put on, taken off, and put back on a project that was a mess from the jump. I worked 10 hours on a video, got the all-clear, then was called at midnight telling me it was due at 8 am the next day, a company-wide day off. I explained this was not possible and that if they tried to force it anyway I would quit. They told me this job wasn't a good fit and they needed "someone younger who can be more flexible." Which, essentially, means they need someone with less experience who is willing to be exploited because they don't know any better. The following week they laid off more people, the second time that year. Translation (the parent company) does marketing for Eli Lilly, so you know they are morally bankrupt. Do not work at United Masters or Translation.
