Pros
Some really fantastic people here. Product is actually pretty decent, although it's quickly losing ground to the competition due to a lack of innovation and focus. The newest "innovation" -- POS on iPhone -- is something all the main competitors in the industry have had for years.
Cons
Where to start? Ultimately, Union has one of the worst company cultures of any places I've worked and it all stems from the CEO. The amount of finger pointing, scapegoating, and complete lack of respect toward employees is on another level. The only way to succeed here is to be a yes man to the CEO and get on board with whatever new doomed-to-fail strategy he rolls out every 2-3 months. The CEO is allergic to data and doesn't actually understand what customers care about nor what the competition is doing. Sales people are treated like a commodity and given wildly unrealistic targets pulled out of thin air. I think the company has gone through over 40 sales people in 1+ year. Additionally, they've churned through 3 senior execs in under a year. They regularly fire people at the end of the month so as not to have to pay for health insurance for the following month. Severance is non-existent. All the talk of being a family and one team one dream is total lip service -- actions speak louder than words. My advice if you're considering joining Union -- Don't. It's not worth it. Save yourself the anguish and join a real company with real vision and a healthy culture.
