Pros
The development stack provides an array of challenging technologies for any developer with opportunities to solve highly unique problems. Work from home twice a week (while it lasts) and a new building are nice benefits.
Cons
A complete lack of leadership and/or people with adequate knowledge in modern software development practices has led to a fledgling company. Failing to keep/hire Directors of Development has ruined the morale of the development team. Despite willingness of developers, no opportunity is given to fill the desperately needed leadership roles or advance in the company. Almost all of the most knowledgeable and highly skilled developers have resigned to pursue far better opportunities. Software is often written by non-developer employees and forced upon the development team or desperate attempts to replace members with outsourced workers. Lack of raises, below average salaries and no respect for an often high stakes and complicated work, sets a low, low bar for employee value. This is a company built and surviving on the revenue of it's developed software, yet continues to show it does not want to be in the development business.
