I was terminated due to "taking too many days off" so let me explain. My pet had gotten an infection that could have led to it dying I explained the severity to my manager to which I thought she had understood. I had taken 2 days off work for the vet appointment and requested a half day which I was going to work almost the entirety of my shift minus the 2 hours I needed to bring my other pet to the vet. During my "termination" they said they want someone who can be there EVERYDAY. I am a hard worker and I never want to take time off but when my family members are needing help they will ALWAYS come first. The audacity the manager had to say "you can schedule appointments on the weekend" just goes to show how inconsiderate they are. For us working class we know that vets/doctors are either closed on the weekend or completely booked out which for an emergency you cant wait that long.
However my issues lay with the hypocrisy and lack of communication from all ends. I was told that if I needed time as long as I gave a heads up to not stress about taking the time you would need as they would be able to work with you. This was a blatant lie. I did not know this was even an issue and was told I was doing very good in the company so to be randomly terminated for handling personal emergencies was a curveball I did not see coming.
From my employment I witnessed over 2 members in my own team suddenly get terminated(a manager and a team lead) as well as others in multiple departments suddenly get laid off, With my own experience and the constant "layoff" warnings this company is nothing but a sinking ship.
Their systems are horrendous and what should be automated is a complete train wreck. The overall work environment is very degrading. If you want to be a work slave 5 days a week 8 hours a day with the possibility of you being terminated for literally any reason this place is perfect for you.
