Pros
If you're on a bike, you get a good workout making deliveries, and it's straightforward job that you can sign in and out of whenever you want. Those are the only good things.
Cons
When you sign up, they tell you that you will be paid $6.65 base + just under $2 (I believe it was $1.85) per km. What they don't explain to you is that the base isn't per hour, it's per trip, and UBER takes 35% of that base and 35% of the km you ride for. They hire you quickly, text you a couple short training videos, and expect excellent customer service. NOBODY tips with UBER. They make an online transaction that provides no option to tip you, so customers don't expect to have to give you anything at the door. This is also the same for drivers. Trips aren't fast. There are restaurant delays, there is traffic/construction, and lot of the customers don't put down their delivery instructions properly, so you have to contact them. On average a trip takes 20-30mins. It's not worth it to work outside of prime time hrs (lunch & dinner). During prime hours, you'll be biking a good 4-8km for an average of $12/hr with no tips. Yesterday I worked a late shift just after dinner time. I travelled downtown and waited, clocked in for 1.5hours, got one delivery given and completed for a total $7.09, and went home with $4.61 after UBER took their cut.
