Pros

I went thru an incredibly difficult event while recently hired with US Cost. They showed extraordinary support, and went above and beyond in my opinion.

Cons

Working for a consultant like US Cost has its downside because you are “stationed” at the owner/client’s job site. No matter how great US Cost is, your working environment takes on the culture of the client in which US Cost won the contract.

Pros

The salaries are comparable to other consulting firms of like-size.

Cons

The leadership and Accounting/Payroll teams are AWFUL here. From the leadership perspective, there is ZERO support for the consultants (who are doing all the work and making all the money for the company) . Leadership here see’s dollars and not people. The leadership teams never supported us, never listened to us, or visited our large off-site team (mind you, our team was making the vast majority of profits for the company, and no site visits even occurred throughout the year besides a 2-hour Christmas luncheon). Overall no support or engagement from Leadership- they simply see numbers. From the Accounting/Payroll perspective, I’ve heard many stories of 401K contributions not being met by the employer, and overall benefits being completely “jacked up”. My benefits package was even messed up for months without them doing anything about it after several emails and phone calls. The Accounting and Payroll Team will also take amounts out of your paycheck without warning, notice, or justification which is extremely unethical and probably illegal. Overall, the accounting department is a nightmare, and shame on leadership for not caring or making adjustments.

US Cost Response

We are sorry that this former employee felt this way about employment here. In response to these claims, this employee was provided justification for deductions due to excess leave. This employee took over six weeks of time off in first eleven months of employment when the offer letter clearly stated the employee would earn two weeks over the first year. This was unrelated to a medical condition. The CEO made two visits.. The Senior Vice President made at least six trips as did the Vice President responsible for this site. The HR generalist traveled to the site as well. We've received no complaints regarding employee deposits for 401K contributions, which are submitted within three business days of payroll, as required by law. We wish this person the best in the next position.
