Pros

A lot of low hanging fruit

Cons

Forget the age of the equipment (50+ years old), the lack of any written procedures for anything (including safety protocols, and this is a foundry) the bigger concern is the outdated and highly misogynistic way of thinking of the people that have been there way too long (about half have been there 10+ years, it is common to find employees with 26 years of experience, 40 years, the minority are all the new people that keep on leaving.) This company is based in Birmingham Alabama, and the deep 'good old boy' culture has permeated every cell of this organization. There are zero women in the managerial ranks and one or two token women sprinkled here and there just to protect themselves. Same goes for minorities. Here if you are white and male, you get promoted, even in cases when you know nothing about the new job. Politics, not talent and good ideas rules the day here. If you choose to join expect: not recognizing your ideas, work and contributions, stealing these to make oneself look better, political gameplaying to belittle and put down people that are a threats because they actually know what they are doing- in some cases full on histrionics and screaming which nobody addresses. In general this is the classic toxic environment, but carries a lot of passive aggressiveness, lack of transparency, fairness and a certain degree of lack of ethics. Run from this place do not work here. This place paralyzes everyone to the point that nothing happens, nothing gets done of any value or note.

Pros

Lots of hours as hourly, more as salary with less pay

Cons

Toxic plant management that don’t know production. They ran off most of the experienced managers because they valued their friends more than sticking to the policies and procedures, then throw others under the bus instead of owning their failures. The insurance is ridiculous since Quikrete bought them.
