Pros
The benefits are very good and affordable. The stock vesting plan on 401k is not very good because you wait for 5 years to be fully vested. There is no pension, but you can buy their stock at a discount which has provided good returns over time. They don’t do layoffs so you can expect (the same) pay over time. The problem solving nature of the work feels rewarding. The process on my team is good, but has room for improvement.
Cons
The pay is about 35% lower than I would expect for the exact same job somewhere else. Hard work is rewarded with a 3% raise and small bonus, which doesn’t cover inflation. Workload has increased yet purchasing power has decreased. Company stock has risen 40% in a year yet employees standard of living is going down quickly. It’s difficult to be happy about this. Jobs were fully remote and now back to the office twice per week. This is another pay cut in terms of gas, time, maintenance, etc.
