Pros

Remote work; decent benefits; flexible work hours

Cons

Dismal pay for women. Lack of opportunity/promotion even with an advanced degree. Good old boy culture isn't going away any time soon. If you're direct, you're bossy/aggressive.

Pros

Good health insurance, vacation and sick leave! No mandatory overtime

Cons

Hired remote before Covid and this agency ended all telework even though other state agencies kept it! Doing the work of 3 people but pay for 1 …building outdated (except for HQ in Austin), lack of modern software but PeopleSoft gets the job done, High mandatory pension deductions right at 9.5% big hit to paycheck! Getting paid once a month big adjustment. Ending telework really limits their talent pool around the state of Texas now must live in Austin if you want access to the majority of good jobs.
