Pros

The nightshift employees are an awesome group of people and really work together

Cons

20:1 patient ratio at night, even with 5 minute rounds, never appropriately staffed per state guidelines, Management refuses to discuss issues with staff and help make things better, just tells employees to " get on the train or get off " Will no respond to e-mails with questions about the units. Chronically understaffed for acuity. DO NOT TAKE ACUITY INTO CONSIDERATION WHEN STAFFING. Benefits are expensive and not worth it. They will not give you time off, even if you put the request in a year in advance, because they are chronically understaffed and have no one to replace you. Patients are not safe in the hospital because we as staff cannot keep them safe. Administration does not care about the employees or employee safety. They only care about money and will admit anyone, no matter how violent, if they have appropriate insurance. ROOMS ARE NOT CLEANED BETWEEN PATIENTS. Housekeeping only works during the day so if patients discharge after they leave and new patients come in they are put in the dirty room, on the opposite bed. The bathrooms are not cleaned between patients.

Pros

I appreciated and respected my coworkers.

Cons

This hospital appears to be more interested in money than patient care. They don't invest in their employees as evidenced by poor benefits, pay, and raises. Management appear to take things personally and become vindictive towards their employees. Many employees there complain of feeling harassed by management, not just about work performance, but also about their individual character traits. Employees that have worked there for a lengthy amount of time have left, and continue to leave, due to poor management. Human resources and corporate do not advocate for the employees, as complaints appear to go uninvestigated, including complaints of harassment from management. Management struggles to work together as a team as evidenced by multiple overheard negative comments made about each other behind each other's backs. This causes them to lose credibility when leading a team. Other things that cause a loss of credibility of management include that the main floor management, do not appear to know how to work on the floor due to lack of training and what appears to be a lack of effort. It also appears that the management here lack experience in the field, as their expectations appear to be unrealistic and unobtainable. Employees often are placed in dangerous situations as evidenced by understaffing and lack of consideration for high acuity patients when taking staffing into account. It has been observed that people who don't qualify for positions are working the positions as evidenced by a receptionist, specifically the assistant to the CEO, running HR temporarily, and being in charge of risk management. This is the perfect place for you to work, if you're interested in being overworked, understaffed, placed in dangerous situations, and harassed by management daily for doing a job that they're not even sure how to do.
