Pros
- Laid-back environment where face time doesn’t matter - Friendly coworkers - The head of HR is a saint for dealing with the situation management thrust on him
Cons
- No overarching strategy or vision from management. The revolutionary concept meant to change the company this year? ...OKRs. - CEO is in over his head. He only listens to the part-time management consultants he’s hired, who last did meaningful work in the 1990s. The consultants throw up roadblocks for current employees rather than helping to tear them down. Dilbert-esque meetings about strategy for roadmaps. Progress happens at a glacial pace. - Engineering has been almost entirely outsourced to Ukraine. As a technology company, how can tech be a differentiator when, due to HIPAA regulations, outsourced contractors can’t even see company data? - The smartest people at the company are demoralized and sit on other offers until bonus packages come in. - Lack of promotion. Despite glowing performance reviews, key players are undervalued and underutilized. - Micromanagement and lack of trust is rampant throughout the org. Working at this company is like being a character in Game of Thrones; you never know what new abuse will be thrust upon you by your manager or who will be fired next.
