I am crazy about my dog and one of the big reasons I chose to work here was because I would be able to bring her to work. But lately the pet policy is just INSANE. There are a lot of rules that don't make sense to me, but the most recent one is the final straw. Now friendly dogs that are in fully gated cubicle areas have to be tied up to our desks on short tethers. For a company that markets itself as a cool, pet friendly environment, the hypocrisy and stupidity of the pet policy is maddening. I and many of my coworkers think it's cruel and unusual and pointless to tie up a dog (that is already safely behind a gate) on tiny tether for 8 hours a day, and we are frustrated and mad that such a stupid idea has become policy. Dogs that are tied up are more aggressive, defensive, they can't play with or get snuggles from the people in their areas, and they think they are being punished. The dogs that are tied up now cry ALL DAY and are super distracting. I love everything about my job, but now the pet policy is actually making me dread coming to work, and making me feel like the company doesn't care about me.
