Pros
Typically a relaxed working environment. Mostly Monday-Friday with some weekends. Benefits are fantastic for single person. Retirement is good as well.
Cons
Working in higher ed can mean a lot of bureaucracy and red tape. Things don't move quickly. Benefits (if paying for a family) can get outrageous. Higher cost for family than if you could pay for spouse and children separately. Pay is good for the area, but low compared to competitors in the industry.
