Pros

You get to work on some really cool space stuff. At least it sounds cool in theory. The teammates that I work with are cool and I appreciate them.

Cons

Management absolutely cannot be trusted. After promising not to do any layoffs, they laid off a huge part of the company right after. When I checked, some of the people laid off had just joined the company. Engineering is very disorganized and chaotic, you never know what is the real priority because leadership will tell you to do something on Monday and then by Wednesday, they will say ignore that and do something else. Management doesn't push back and when we get a buggy, half-finished thing at the end because of the constant change in priority, engineering gets blamed. This might be an interesting company if you are coming from a space or aviation background. If you are coming from a regular software engineering job though, run away! Do not consider working here!

We are sorry to hear about your experience at the time of this posting. In the last four months we have taken on several initiatives to improve the business, and we have received very positive employee feedback. We understand that being subject to a layoff is not fun for anyone. Initially, Even and the company leadership believed we could avoid a layoff and he announced this to the team. After many thoughtful discussions, we decided it was best to restructure specific departments, roles and leadership, moving to a structure that would increase communication, team partnership, and cohesiveness, as well as eliminate some execution challenges. The product organization and a few other departments were impacted. While we regret the negative effects in the short term, the business is stronger for it today. Even apologized in a Company All-Hands for his statement that turned out to be premature. As a fast moving early-stage company, we continue to hire for essential roles to the business while we win new contracts, grow and evolve. We believe our recent organizational changes, along our new communication approach, community building initiatives, and leadership/manager training is evolving our culture positively. If you are still a current employee, we very much encourage you to raise your concerns internally to leadership and the people team—your perspective is valued.

Pros

Talented people and smart engineers to learn from

Cons

Feedback goes into the void and the leadership is very defensive. Decisions are made based on the coolness of the marketing material without seeking input from the people who build the product. If you raise issues, you get sidelined. If you have kids don't work here. 60+ hours weeks are the standard and there is no plan to ever reduce the workload on the staff. It's a feature, not a bug. Every team is spread extremely thin and it's impossible to get work done at the office. Burnout is rampant, morale is non-existent and turnover is extremely high. Career progression is reserved for people that kiss up to the leadership team. The inner circle is full of people that aren't very competent, but tell leadership what they want to hear. Accountability is nowhere to be found. The company is overextended and there is more work than we can handle. The culture is to downplay the complexity of the engineering, sell out engineers when things don't go well and then spin the poor results into a flashy LinkedIn post.
