Pros
Someone once told me, you spend most of your day at work, so really, it should be somewhere you enjoy being. When thinking about the place I wanted to work next, I was clear I wanted to be in a smaller but rapidly growing business, with bold ambitions and a great culture. Trtl is all of this and more, and I genuinely look forward to coming to work. After suffering through Covid due to travel restrictions, things are back on track and the business is growing quickly. As it grows, there are new opportunities and we are recruiting for a large number of roles. While it’s not formalised yet, the business clearly wants to provide a structure that allows people to grow and progress, moving into management roles or become specialists in a specific area. The people in the team are fantastic - the best bit of the job- and there is a great mix of cultures, ages and opinions. Everyone has a voice and is entitled to their view. There are no egos, everyone mucks in to get the job done, which I love. New opportunities and ideas emerge everyday, making this an exciting place to work. You will without doubt be involved in interesting projects that you would not get the chance to work on in other businesses, which is great for developing your experience and knowledge. Trtl is growing quickly and is extremely ambitious. Right now I genuinely couldn’t think of a more exciting place to be.
Cons
Let’s be frank. The business took a kicking during Covid (particularly due to lockdowns and travel bans) and that wasn’t easy for anyone involved. These issues brought tough decisions to keep the business alive, which in turn unfortunately brought disruption for people who were affected by those decisions. As this clearly comes through in some earlier reviews I think it’s important to face into, however, it’s equally important to share that the business is rebuilding quickly and has done so with a great team and culture. Things are VERY fast paced here and that’s definitely not for everybody. I like the challenge of trying new things, delivering as quickly as possible and then changing direction as we learn but if you don’t like context switching and reacting quickly as priorities change and new opportunities arise then Trtl probably isn’t the right place for you. The employee benefits aren’t the best at the moment, but the company knows this and it’s on the plan to be reviewed. However, there are other different types of benefits to being in a company like this, particularly when it comes to learning and personal development. Finally, the team has been lean for a while and workloads have been relatively high as we have grown. However, with the business now in a position to invest in the team, we are recruiting for a large number of roles to fill these gaps and are already seeing some fantastic new people, with different skills and experience joining the team.
