Pros

Compare the number of reviews here to other firms and adjust your expectations. Talent aqusition solicits reviews from new hires and interns as part of their onboarding. I was asked to write a review less than one month after starting, before I had time to form a proper opinion.

Cons

I've worked for two other accounting firms and this was by far my worst experience. Everyone is overworked. Firm has a old school mentality where employees are expected to be glued to their computers for 6+ months of 'busy season'. They also use the figure it out yourself approach for any professional education or development. Partners have no problem throwing a 8am Saturday meeting on your calendar to discourage asking for help. Worked with some very talented and young coworkers here who are raising children. It's impossible to work at this firm while simultaneously fulfilling the responsibilites of being a primary caregiver to a young child. Stop neglecting your children and look for employment elsewhere. Your children will thank you.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that your experience did not reflect the supportive and collaborative environment we strive to provide. Public accounting can be demanding, especially during busy season, but we recognize the importance of communication, professional development, flexibility, and work-life balance. Trout CPA regularly uses Lattice Pulse surveys to gather real-time feedback and engagement insights from employees throughout the year. Our current engagement rating is 79%, and we use this feedback to identify opportunities to strengthen our culture and improve the employee experience. We are also proud that Trout CPA was recently named the #5 Best Places to Work in PA for medium-sized companies by the Central Penn Business Journal, an honor we have earned for the past three consecutive years. While we are grateful for this recognition, we know there is always room to listen, learn, and continue improving. We also continue to evaluate ways to support our team, including offering a generous paid time off package and 36-hour workweeks during the summer. We want every team member, at every stage of their career, to feel they have the resources, guidance, and support needed to be successful. We appreciate your perspective and wish you the best in your next opportunity.

Pros

Talented, knowledgeable, and helpful staff. Everyone is a pleasure to work with and the day to day culture is great. It is clear that employee support and wellbeing is a main goal of the firm. Training is ok and most learning comes on the job which is a fast paced environment. Is a pro for me but could turn into a con for others. Help is always available and interns get detailed experience with 1040 prep.

Cons

Nothing extraordinary that is unnatural for the profession
