Pros

A tremendous theater experience for the audience.

Cons

Office personnel is too young, inexperienced, and unable to answer basic questions. The interview was a joke -- asking canned questions I would have expected from a large corporation. They must have read the "how to interview" book. Also, the expectations for the job are too high for the salary they are willing to pay. Further, they need someone to promote and SELL the theater as a whole -- whether or not the person needs to have a background on stage is not needed. They have run ads for the same job a couple of times. THAT should have been a red flag.

Pros

- Most of the people are great - Flexible hybrid schedule (depending on your department: this is probably not the case for folx in production positions) - Fun, interesting, and meaningful work - Easily the most LGBT friendly workplace I’ve ever encountered - Decent benefits including generous PTO - Pet-friendly

Cons

- Pay is low. As a non-profit this is to be expected, but even compared to other non-profits in the area, it’s low. - No opportunities for growth (in my department at least) - Micromanaging from higher-ups, including those who aren’t even your own supervisor - Some senior employees ignore feedback because “that’s the way it has always been” even if “the way it has always been” is inefficient at best or toxic at worst - Despite preaching diversity & inclusion, there are not many employees of color in the departments I work with. The ones who were hired left shortly after…and were replaced by older, white ones with more “traditional” backgrounds. Definitely gives me pause.
