Pros
It's really hard to rate such a massive company. Every division and business unit will have their own story to tell. So take all of this with a grain of salt. Work-life balance is superb. Very "European" attitudes toward work due to parent company. Workload is light and generally easy. You can move up, although it will be a slow ride. The people are friendly. There's an increasingly desperate need for young talent to balance out the aging workforce.
Cons
Low salary, the endless number of admin systems, disorganized and inefficient bureaucracy, corporate bloat, miles of red tape, absolutely no accountability, lack of guidance from upper management, lack of vision, poor benefits, lack of ownership on tasks. No culture. Just a mishmash of departments who don't understand what the other is doing. A ton of useless product derivations to appease shareholders. Lack of purpose. The bottom line is this: There is nothing that Transamerica does better than its competitors. If you're young and ambitious, don't stay here too long. If you're middle-aged and want an easy ride to retirement, Transamerica is the company for you.
