Pros

I am excited to say I have landed safely at a great organization! I am a new hire at TrafficSoda and have spent the last six months deep diving into an ever changing market, with dynamic and strategic requirements and learning a new team and client culture. I have spent that last decade working within large agency’s downtown Toronto and recently re-located to see what skills I could learn, develop and bring to a small but thriving business. Yes, TrafficSoda is a small business, Yes, there are things to be worked through. But in my 10+ years of experience every place has elements to grow and develop and that’s why it’s a great place to work. In an environment like this you can create the solution, develop the change and be the driving force behind the growth and client satisfaction. This is a workplace that lets you flex your muscles and develop new ones and pushes you for your greatest potential. At TrafficSoda you will have the impact of your own choosing and for me the ability to actual feel like I am contributing is priceless. I never felt that in BIG corporate life!

Pros

- Small company allows you to learn many different roles. - Meet some great people on the team.

Cons

- Poor compensation. - Lack of support in learning new tasks. - Weird/toxic culture: they don't want you to spend any time on internal tasks; everything has to be billed to clients. If you ever have to leave before 5 pm, regardless of performance or commitment, it's judged and frowned upon. - Blurred roles: even though there are specific role definitions, it can feel like you're doing others people's jobs, while they aren't contributing much to the team. Nothing comes of this when it's brought up to management. - Management feels they know best and don't listen to any feedback from the rest of the team. - There is no structure in delivering projects to clients. You're expected to put something together on your own accord, rather than following any sort of system that should be in place by now. This is confusing and causes team members to look to each other for support, as management doesn't lend any. - Obligations to clients aren't met or made a priority. This is one of the most frustrating parts of the job, as it holds you back from excelling in your role and helping your clients succeed.

Pros

Professional fast-paced working environment. The management team has a clear goal of what needs to be done and are willing to do what it takes to push forward. Great at rewarding motivated driven employees and identifying employees who are not fully invested. The team has changed quite a bit over the last 18 months or so and it has really improved the working environment. I really feel like you are working with the best. Communication within the company from the top down has improved greatly with the recent staffing changes.

Cons

The work is complex and for less senior people the environment can feel overwhelming. Leadership is generous with providing training and guidance but could sometimes also consider providing some reassurance to more junior people. Being thrown in the fire builds character but it can feel tough.
