Ask not what you can do for your family, but instead, what you can do for your Tractor Supply. - Assistant Store Manager Tractor Supply Employee Review

Pros

The customer base and clientele are great, (aside from sexism I got from both male and female customers...I was an assistant store manager, female), I loved my regular customers and those new to TSC. The teams I worked with in the three stores I was employed at have become some of my best friends. The health, 401K, dental, and employee discounts were better than average (but not outstanding)

Cons

Although there are many things I can go on about, the breaking point of my employment at Tractor Supply was the balance between work and my personal life. I started as a part time team member, and progressed quickly, being promoted in four months time to a full-time team leader, and a year later to an Assistant Store Manager. I made a competitive salary, though only competitive because of the mandatory overtime each week. I worked 48+ hours all year, and every Wednesday I worked at least 11-13 hours with one half hour break. My team worked their absolute best, and yet, regardless of anything we did, upper management picked on us unfairly in comparison to the other stores in our district. My Store manager, team leaders, and myself, worked over our hours for months to try and prove ourselves to our District Manager(s). I witnessed my boss break down on more than one occasion with the stress the store caused her. I could go on, with countless stories and details. I loved my job, and I was great at it, our team flowed effortlessly for our management team. Yet, I constantly thought about TSC, eat, sleep, breathe: Tractor Supply Company. For this main reason, I quit my job. I'm 21, and I couldn't take the corporate BS any longer.

Pros

Great benefits, pay is manageable. The store bonuses are incredible. If you are a store manager anything lower it’s not any significance to a paycheck.

Cons

Long hours there is no work life balance. Depending on who your district manager is a lot of them are very unethical. When you do not follow what they say they will find a reason to fire you. The company itself was great, but it’s the people they hire.
