Pros
Great workforce training programs. Empowering workforce structure. Strong investment in process improvements. Encourages movement within the organization. Great corporate execution, makes up for lack of plans.
Cons
The chickens are running the coup. In many ways HR has good policies and controls, but delinquent in other ways. Lower level employees feel empowered to the point where they can be overly aggressive to their management and involve HR if they get pushed back. Roles are very confining in scope, great if you like to be an expert in a very narrow range of responsibility, but not good for a generalist/executive in training. The company strategy is not analytical and based off of feel. This is extremely frustrating when presenting obvious facts against a counter ideology that disagrees based on a belief. Had no confidence in the CEO when he spent 20 minutes out of a presentation in front of the whole company asking associates what they should name their Saturday sales event. Isn't this what you pay a marketing team for? Sure enough after 20 minutes of alliteration from all corners of the room "Super Savings Saturday" wound up on the flyer. Some of you may like the inclusion that management gives in this example, but to me I felt like there was a complete lack of organization and structure. Company is owned by VC right now (public knowledge). This means that they are currently reducing the workforce cost to make the company look better for IPO. This puts extra workload on the employees and added stress. I would be very concerned for the companies prospect of surviving long after the IPO when the loans come due. This is only my opinion though.
