Pros

They will hire right out of school or with no experience.

Cons

Female employees are not given the same opportunities or training the male employees are. Plus they get raises and promotions far slower. Management talks about safety a lot but its not followed through on the shop floor so more people get hurt then is needed. Upper management tends to dismiss employees concerns.

Pros

It's steady paycheck in a bad economy. Weekends off.

Cons

There is little to no training except for a select few. This isn't the job if you are passionate about glassblowing and want to advance. Management is very sensitive to criticism and speaking up is meet with hostility and punishment. They claim an open door policy but that's a trap. Despite having a few tolken 'girl bosses' female workers are expected to be okay with less opportunities and sexist behavior from male coworkers and management. Safety is only addressed in passing. The shop floor joke is "skin regrows, glass doesn't"
