Family dynamic tends to develop between teacher's aides.
You can get really attached to some of the kids and your teacher/other aides.
Cons
Unbelievably low pay. When I got hired, $10.50 an hour was the starting pay for those WITH a college degree. Lots of aides got paid even LESS than that. I have no idea how so many aides support families on the crappy hourly wages TW pays.
Long hours because you have to ride a morning or afternoon bus route along with working in a classroom. Routes can be as long as 4 hours so sometimes you don't get back to the school until 7 pm or you have to wake up super early to help pick up the students on the lengthy morning routes.
Paycuts and furloughs weren't exactly rare when I worked there. The school is run like and even referred to as a company rather than a school.
