Pros

Leadership is kind, well meaning. They will meet you for a coffee per request when experiencing job difficulties.

Cons

Difficulties: -Low pay. -Inconsistent Pay due to cancellations. -Lot of travel. Not well compensated for travel time and lost time that you cannot fill with another session. Yes this is how home care often works, but they did not compensate properly for this. -Last I was there, entire paperwork system was handwritten, scanned, and indivdually uploaded. All on clinicians personal time. All unpaid for. Materials, printer, printer ink, pay for each month yourself. -Was not able to provide me a full time caseload within 6 months of employment despite multiple verbal conversations of assurance. This made me feel I was taken advantage of as a new clinician. -Due to all these factors in combination, I worked full time days and hours, so much travel, and barely brought in $700-1000 every 2 week pay check. Despite agreeing to expand my catch to 2 NYC boroughs, including the entirety of the UWS, Midtown West, Chelsea, Midtown, West and Central Harlem, Washington Heights. Was not able to give me full time work even though I told them that was what I was seeking, they said they could give it to me, then continued to make changes to their original claim but required more and more areas, time in my day (7am-7pm- most clients don't want middle of the day due to nap gap so you are out of work, can't go home due to time, but are stuck and have no clients, but it's unpaid time you are in limbo) more than what I ever would have agreed to in the original agreement signing on with them. -No insurance/benefits until you are Full-Time status. Came in seeking FT job. Their biggest mistake was misleading me that they would be able to provide me full time hours. Their second mistake was continuing to affirm despite all evidence they would be able to provide me a full time caseload for my income needs when via their actions, 6 months into the job they still could not. -You are your own island in home care EI 90% of the time, at least with this company.

Pros

-Supportive admin -Flexible scheduling -Continuing ed stipend -Decent Benefits -Benefits remain active even when your schedule falls below full-time (major benefit) -The company picks up school contracts as well so there is the potential for work outside of EI/Preschool. School contracts can also provide more consistent work.

Cons

-As an itinerant therapist you have limited, inconsistent work- It's not on the business, they look for and reach out to find case needs but at the end of the day, there is only so much work to go around. It's the nature of itinerant work. Full time is 35 sessions per week but it really depends on how many cases are available and how many therapists are in your area. It will also depend on which area you serve and which discipline you are (speech therapists will always have work). Again this is not on business but is a con of working in this area of business.
