Pros
Initiative is often rewarded. Taking on additional responsibilities when possible can lead to promotions, raises, and company-sponsored further education/certification. Being a small team means you get to know your coworkers pretty well which can be a huge boon to company productivity. Developing a shorthand with colleagues has saved me countless hours in problem resolution. TWG is on the frontlines of revolutionary technology. Being on the ground floor like this means we get to play a role in how things are shaped. This is a huge responsibility but it is also an extreme honor and very exciting. Leadership also just expanded and upgraded health benefits, which in today's world is incredibly valuable and shows that they care for their team. I've watched leadership navigate difficult situations, both internally and externally, with grace and integrity. They work hard to protect their team from internal and external threats, to ensure we can stay focused on what we're trying to accomplish.
Cons
This is a startup, and we are fully remote. Those two things come with their own challenges. It can be difficult to connect with team members the way you can when you're all in a shared, in-person space, and sometimes there's a delay getting answers to important questions. We also pivot quickly at times, which can be frustrating for some people. Personally I enjoy it, even when it means I may have to scrap or abandon something I've been working on, just because it keeps me on my toes and I don't worry about getting lazy. But it's definitely not for everyone.
