Pros
By and large, neutral-to-nice people.
Cons
Located in a remote area of Queens, NY, difficult to get to from just about anywhere else in NYC. Needed to take a bus to a subway line and then, to another bus to get there. Double-fare, twice a day. (For a description of the return trip, read it backward).
Middling to stingy benefits.
IT will read your email messages! I was fired for emailing a work of fiction to myself. Dearth of local restaurants. Learn to like arroz con pollo.
The supervisor whose department I had the misfortune of landing in, after a training week: I sensed an immediate hostility directed toward me from this individual, which I quickly dismissed as in my imagination. No one acts like that, and we'd just been introduced. Turned out that first impressions are seldom incorrect. Humorless, and as serious as a heart attack. I was excluded from office banter.
I was not employed in the position for which I interviewed. I was employed in a department which was a mismatch with my skills.
