Pros

There are very few pros to working at the Siegfried Group, but there is a minuscule chance of getting a travel engagement that actually develops your skills and makes the salary worthwhile.

Cons

Where to start with the cons of working at Siegfried... since there are endless things wrong with the company and management, a bulleted list is probably easiest and most reader friendly: - "Leadership" (at least in the SJ/SF and LA regions) will consistently lie to your face and gossip. I put leadership in quotes as that is what Siegfried management calls themselves, even though they hardly inspire confidence like true leaders. Be careful of leadership promising you a say in what engagements you are put on because when you actually get there, they will try to force you into any available engagement without considering your career development as they simply want to make money (don't believe the interesting and challenging work or My Journey "promises"). - If you do speak up and say an engagement isn't right for you they will accuse you of wanting to be on the "bench" and not wanting to work. They will also classify you as inflexible which is something they rate you on in year-end performance evaluations. - Leadership is unprofessional in the manner they speak to their resources, including but not limited to: hanging up on you, yelling at you when you do not want to take an engagement, backhanded remarks, and bringing up personal issues such a medical conditions (!) in a negative context instead of being supportive. - Do not believe Siegfried when they will say you can get a travel job, which is where you can drastically increase your earning potential. Siegfried actively recruits young professionals from Australia, South Africa and Canada since the company is not respected in the US, and then they get annoyed/surprised when these people all ask for travel engagements, as people on travel engagements get everything paid for, from housing, food, fitness, Ubers, car, flybacks to your local market, etc. and a hefty salary increase. This makes staying in your local market highly undesirable, yet they hire people from outside the US who have limited friends and family in their local market and thus mostly want travel jobs. They then promise travel opportunities to these people, but it really just depends on what market you are in, as slower markets such as Houston and LA will be given the travel jobs since there is no local work, and if you are in a market with a plentiful amount of engagements, such as SJ/SF, you will almost assuredly never get travel. - They put on the illusion of being a company that wants to treat you lavishly, but in the West region, they will argue you over the smallest of expenses. - The year-end performance evaluations are almost entirely subjective and are extremely bias, with the people who are "in" with leadership receiving all the promotions and high ratings. Their criteria for evaluating you are explained but do not make sense and leadership struggle to legitimately explain why you were rated something. Even if your clients all give you perfect on your reviews (which should be far and above the most important thing), if you rubbed leadership the wrong way, they will find a way to not rate you highly or promote you. - This job WILL NOT DEVELOP YOU, as most of the engagements could be done by a first or second year accountant (counting cash, posting a few journal entries, doing basic reconciliations/analytics). Furthermore, other employers will not know who or what The Siegfried Group is when you inevitably leave. There are so many more negative things to be said, but without getting too personal I will leave it at that and just warn you to NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY. Even with the big bonuses for production (they will likely limit your hours so you can't earn anything or over work you to the point like it's public accounting) and recruiting people (I would hope you would only refer people you don't actually care about), please do not work here as you will regret it!!!
