Pros
The very smart and competent colleagues
Cons
This place is dangerous for your mental health, incredibly so! I feel the responsibility to write this here. The biggest favor you can do to your mental health and well-being is not to work here. Please check the Enough Project page reviews - it's the former name, but the same in everything. Same sexist, racist, dismissing, arrogant, cult-like management. The following is a review I copied from the Enough Project page that I find very accurate. "Often a sexist environment with no effective HR channel to bring accountability. About a third of the female staff has quit over a one year period. Complaints of women being objectified, marginalized, silenced, sacrificed to the supposed higher cause -- often just apparently to gratify some of the (mostly male) managers' egos. Everyone rolled eyes when the Center for American Progress held a sensitivity training to talk about perceptions of sexist, biased, homophones, and racist behavior. The training was supposedly mandatory and everyone had a choice of two sessions to attend. But the three most senior executives at Enough, all men, pointedly chose not to show up. It's as if they feel above needing to be held accountable for modeling equal opportunity and mutual respect in the workplace, as if it's justifiable to sacrifice young women, who are dumped on more, paid less, and promoted even less often to truly senior positions, to the cult of the higher cause. That thinking is tired and it is bogus." The Sentry is no longer involved with the Center for American Progress, but everything said remains to be true to this day. If you think this is one review or one opinion of an angry ex-staff. I promise you it is not. I told myself the same thing before joining this toxic space, but every single review turns out to hold some truth in the end. Again, I repeat, this place is extremely dangerous for your mental health and well-being!
