Pros

There are no pro’s about working for this company.

Cons

Talent Acquisition “Executive Leadership” team are anything but leaders. They fostered a toxic environment that thrives on gossip and cliques. You can totally tell who the favorites were. The weekly meetings were always a waste of time. Just an excuse for the “leaders” to praise themselves and their favorites. Poor Communication with leadership and Hiring Managers. It would take a week or two to hear back from them, even after sending multiple emails. There were also a lot of cliques with Hiring Managers and other recruiters, with HM’s going behind your back. Poor Salaries-Candidates would often turn down job offers, mainly due to the lousy salary and seeing the poor reviews for the company. I had candidates tell me they were being offered $50-$60,000 more at another job, and of course want to go with the higher salary position. This company wants highly experienced people at a below average salary. No Discounts. Never worked for a company where they don’t offer some kind of discount or credit for their product offerings. Most businesses want employees to be able to shop at the business, and a discount helps encourage that. The employees making little more than minimum wage would never be able to afford much from the site without some kind of discount. High Turnover-in pretty much all areas of the company, including recruiters. You’d be hard pressed to find an employee that has been here longer than a year or two. I felt so relieved when I left The RealReal and encourage others to look elsewhere for work.

Pros

Pay and commission can be good, but the structure is unnecessarily convoluted and not as generous as it seems, and you will have no work/life balance if you want to actually make consistently high commission. If you have a true passion for luxury and fashion, you do get a lot of opportunities to handle and interact with special/rare items, and depending on store location you can meet a lot of interesting industry people and celebrities, especially during Fashion Weeks

Cons

Poor and unsupportive management with extremely unrealistic demands and expectations; you will get virtually no training, but are immediately expected to know how to do everything. The overall company culture is just unpleasant and very cliquey, and there's constant employee turnover. The online customer service system is terrible, so you will frequently have to handle customer issues that have nothing to do with you/your sales.
