Toxic Work Enviornment - Strategist The Media Captain Employee Review

Pros

Offers look good on paper: Remote work, Good salary, etc

Cons

Working at The Media Captain was, unfortunately, a draining and toxic experience. Management shows little to no concern for employee workloads. They will regularly pile on last-minute tasks, more clients and lengthy projects that demand late nights and even overnight work to meet unrealistic deadlines. The stress levels here are off the charts, pushing many to struggle with maintaining any kind of healthy work-life balance. There is virtually no onboarding, coaching, or training provided, so you're thrown into the deep end without guidance. Empathy? Don’t expect any. If you try to set healthy boundaries or push back on management’s questionable practices, prepare to be sidelined or let go. If you value your mental health, boundaries, or even just a reasonable work-life balance, stay far away from this place.

Pros

Dedicated, passionate, and knowledgeable team members. The people I interviewed with were very knowledgeable, and you could tell they worked very hard. Pay was appropriate for the position as defined in the contract.

Cons

Unstructured onboarding made self-integration difficult. Expectations for part-time availability felt unreasonably high. It seemed like you had to be available even if you were only "part time." Key staff lacked the bandwidth to support new hires. Everyone appeared upset and overworked. I think feedback is asked for but rarely genuinely acted upon, and it may sometimes cause offense. Role expectations for freelancers are poorly defined in practice. Time tracking feels very hard to master, like micromanagement, and is also poorly defined.
