Pros
I made some of my best friends working at the store and there are some really good people working there. There are a lot of opportunities to learn about new outdoor gear and talk to some really cool people.
Cons
Mast plays favorites and do not promote or hire qualified people. If you know the right person you can get a job there. They are shooting themselves in the foot by hiring people with no experience in marketing or management to run said divisions of the company. I worked in the outdoor department, and I was given no formal training on the technical equipment and had to ask my co-workers to teach me certain things. If you expect an employee to sell a 65 liter pack to a thru-hiker, you should give them the tools to do so. There are also times of the year where the general customer population is made up of snotty tourists that are intent on giving you a hard time.
