Great Tutoring Company to Work For - Tutor The Learning Curve Employee Review

Pros

Very professional staff who are extremely helpful in working with your schedule and preferences of location. They pay you on time and give fair wages that are dependent on what type of work you do (tutoring, pretesting, admin). They send you all the materials you need and even pay for shipping of those materials so you don't have to drive all the way to their office in Union City. The kids they give you are typically already responsible and driven to succeed. I haven't had one child with behavioral problems and I've worked there for years. You can take a break and come back if you have other work/school demands. They never ask you to work without being paid unlike a lot of other educational companies I have worked for. They don't have events/annoying meetings that you have to attend. They cater to someone who needs flexibility in their schedule. I have worked for several SES tutoring companies as well as private ones and love working for The Learning Curve. I would highly recommend this company.

Cons

I honestly have nothing bad to say about this company. I suppose if you are a contract tutor you are already used to this- but if a student cancels last minute you won't be compensated for driving to their house. Generally though they have always communicated with me if a student cannot show up before I've driven there.

Pros

Staff at the office were great, very understanding and friendly. The teachers and staff at the school I was placed at were also a pleasure to work with, as well as most of the students. Many (but not all) students struggled with the subject they were receiving tutoring with, and it was rewarding to see them enjoy their extra classes and learn and improve.

Cons

Most of the tutoring sessions are during after-school hours, which means you have to fight against traffic on the way home. Sometimes students are difficult to work with (as expected), and sometimes students cancel without prior notification (in which cases you would travel to meet them for nothing).
