Pros
I've held various roles within TGG and have been a part of its evolution over the past few years. No growth is without bumps in the road, but I am truly proud to be a part of this team. I get to do extremely fun and fulfilling work alongside creative, intelligent, hard working people. The way the new owners have committed to getting this REALLY right is amazing and they are very committed to their people. I get to work with incredible fortune 500 brands and the work we do is just inherently fun. Team is super close and I love the feeling of working with my friends every day.
Cons
New hire training can be optimized but its constantly evolving
Pros
Passionate and Collaborative Team: You work with colleagues with an undying passion for their work and a dedication to collaboration, making it a positive and motivating work environment. Innovative and Impactful Projects: I have been involved in some innovative and impactful projects, which can be intellectually stimulating and personally fulfilling as I have left a mark on some challenging and meaningful work that I can be genuinely proud of. Learning Opportunities: The collaborative problem-solving approach allows employees to learn from experienced and knowledgeable colleagues, contributing to personal and professional growth. I've seen myself grow immensely in my first year and have even helped construct me own development plan within the company that fulfills my motivations. Camaraderie and Support: There is an emphasis on camaraderie and support among colleagues which creates a positive workplace culture that promotes creativity, growth, and a strong sense of belonging. Our leadership has taken steps to develop further an environment that fosters candidness and connection across all positions. Recognition of Individual Strengths: The company values each individual's unique strengths, making each employee shine and contribute in ways that align with their skills. We use Cloverleaf to understand better how one's strengths can appear within our collective. Opportunities for Challenges: There are ongoing opportunities to learn and overcome new obstacles.
Cons
Fast-Paced Environment: This is not a con for me as I enjoy the ever-changing nature of our work, but this is something to highlight. We work fast and with tight turnarounds at times. We use the term "hustle," but we work to provide the best outputs for our clients within a given time frame. Sometimes this means work may bleed over the traditional 9-5 hours, but we are encouraged to balance our hours to maintain a work-life balance. This company would not be for you if you are used to doing the same things daily and enjoy a structured routine. If you like to manage your own schedule and have various tasks throughout the week, consider looking into The Garage Group.
Pros
- Decent salary and benefits - I got some content writing and virtual event experience which helped me secure future roles - I learned what I need to be successful working on a fast-paced team
Cons
- I had little to no mentorship in my role. I would schedule one on ones with my manager (and at times it was unclear who my manager was) and have them consistently rescheduled due to TGG taking on way more projects than they had capacity for. - The marketing strategy was unclear, which made my responsibilities unclear as well, especially for someone for whom this was their first full time role. - I felt incredibly siloed in this role. In order for a marketer to be successful for a company like this, they need to have thorough understanding of the work the organization does. There was never a thorough process created for making this happen, and as a result, I felt very limited in my role. - I witnessed some weird/unethical actions taken like former CEO of The Garage Group removing a Pride Month post because it wasn't aligned with his personal values, even though it was not stated that The Garage Group was a conservative Christian organization when I was hired. My manager(s) who are now the current owners went along with the request to remove it without any push back. This is while there were members of that community working for them. - A large number of the people who worked there when I was there didn't last very long and have now left the organization.
