Pros

Flexible remote policy Learn about healthcare Use modern tech stack (depends on team)

Cons

Engineering talent bar is low. Engineering management hardly technical, force poor top-down decisions. Company is obsessed with Agile process, but has no clue how to develop software. Agile coaches and scrum masters are condescending, borderline abusive to engineers. Product owners are more like domain experts, no real background in building tech products or working with engineers. Hold you to unrealistic deadlines, throw engineering under the bus when things are late. Prefer to look good rather than to build good software. Too many contractors and remote teams that do nothing. Comp is below average, and health insurance plan is weak, especially for a health insurance company. No raise last year, even though company has done very well.

Pros

The Cigna Group overall is a fantastic company to work for! They invest in their employees and do a great job ensuring everyone, in all departments/locations/teams feel as if they matter with the multitude of perks they offer to employees. Many team members were knowledgeable, hardworking, and genuinely committed to supporting the healthcare industry.

Cons

While employed at Cigna healthcare, I experienced a work environment that often lacked consistent communication, balanced workload distribution, and transparent leadership practices. High-performing employees were frequently expected to absorb additional responsibilities without corresponding support, while shifting expectations and excessive micromanagement created unnecessary stress and instability. Over time, this impacted morale, trust within teams, and overall employee well-being.
